About GB.Wav

Hi, I'm George, I'm a recording, mixing and mastering engineer based in Glasgow (but I can work in Edinburgh too). I have spent 2 years studying at SAE Glasgow on my Audio Production degree. I have had access to and experience in recording, mixing and mastering software and hardware and have experience working with bands in the Indie and Punk genres, however, I am looking to expand my versatility too. If you have any projects that you need recorded, mixed or mastered let me know, I'm always looking for new work.

Mastering Deliverable Requirements

This segment is to outline how I need you to deliver your mix to me in order for me to master it.

File Types

.Wav or .Aiff files are ideal and will pose no issues, luckily these are the most comon export formats.

Make sure your file is STEREO INTERLEAVED.

NO mp3 files will be accepted, they cannot be worked on at the mastering stage, please avoid mp3 file types.

Sample Rate:

Sample rate needs to be 44.1kHz or above, however, do not up or downsample your mix, make sure it is the same as when you were recording and working.

Bit Depth

32bit with NO dither (ideal). or

24bit with FLAT dither.

File Management

/Labelling

Please ensure your mix(es) are labelled properly, this is important.

Example format:

1. (Artist Name) - (Track Name) Mixdown vX - 44.1kHz 32bit

Communication

Please make sure you communicate your vision for the final mix ("I want it to sound dynamic and vivid"), this will ensure that you get the product you're paying for.

It is also smart to explain any issues you've had with your mixdown ("I can't the brightness of the guitar right") as I can provide you with advice or feedback on this matter.

Fades & Trimming Audio

Please make sure the beginning and end of your mix export is as you want it to be, without too much silence before the first note and no sloppy fade-outs at the end. Please make sure your export does not end with a click due to the waveform being cut off, a subtle fade will fix this issue.

Sending over the mixdown

beforehand and asking for

feedback is also a good idea as this can make you aware of things you previously weren't, however depending on how much time this takes I may charge for consultation.

If you have followed these requiremetns then we should be ready to start working!
